A large number of women blocked the Saharanpur-Delhi Road on Tuesday and staged a protest against a company that allegedly deceived them under the guise of employment. The women claimed that Asian Enterprises, the company in question, absconded with substantial sums of money that had been invested by the women. Authorities launched an investigation into into matter and are currently investigating the case.
According to the victims, the company had made grand promises and representations regarding job opportunities, leading them to invest significant amounts. Asian Enterprises that was established four months ago in the Sadar Bazaar police station area, charged the women a registration fee of Rs 2,400 and provided 1 kilogram of wool, which was used to create flower-shaped items. After registering, the company encouraged participants to recruit additional women and offered a commission of Rs 400 for each new recruit. In just four months, approximately 5,000 women are said to have joined the company.
The protesting women reported that, after making these promises, the company registered thousands of women who each paid Rs 2,400. However, the company abruptly shut down its office and disappeared late Monday night, leaving the women without recourse. In response, the aggrieved women took to the streets, blocking the roads in protest and demanding justice. Local police arrived at the scene and engaged with the protesters, attempting to address their grievances and restore order.
Saharanpur SP City Abhimanyu Manglik reported that the police became aware of the situation through the women’s protest. The women alleged that Asian Enterprises absconded after collecting money from them under the pretense of providing employment. Authorities have assured the victims that legal action will be pursued against those responsible. Efforts are underway to gather all relevant details of the case, and those involved in taking money from the women will be apprehended and prosecuted accordingly.
