With Value-added Mango Products, Theni Entrepreneur Earns Rs 20,000 Each Month

A woman entrepreneur from Tamil Nadu’s Theni has captured public attention on social media after it was revealed that she earns Rs 20,000 per month by creating value-added products from mangoes. Her innovative approach to utilising locally sourced mangoes has not only flared curiosity but also inspired many aspiring entrepreneurs in the region.

Take the success story of Uma from the Bodinayakanur, Theni district who has turned her passion for mangoes into a thriving business.

Since mango farming is widespread in areas around Bodinayakanur, the woman decided to venture into a business related to value-added products from mangoes. Therefore, she has aspired to start her business b, setting an example of inspiration for many youths.

To achieve this, she underwent training at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Agricultural Science Centre in Kamatchipuram, where she learnt how to produce mango bars and other value-added products from mangoes, which enabled her to manufacture a variety of food items. Using a solar dryer on the terrace of her house, she procures 100 to 120 kg of mangoes monthly to produce value-added products. Since the neighbouring state of Kerala has a high demand for these products, she is now earning over Rs 20,000 per month.

Through hard work and determination, she became successful in building her business from the ground up. Utilizing local markets, and social media, she slowly expanded her customer base. Today her products are not only popular in Theni but also gaining widespread recognition throughout other districts.

Her unique idea has helped her meet bigger customer expectations. This innovative idea has made her products more convenient and attractive, generating revenue, and saving cost. It has also brought competitive advantage and enhanced security.
