One of the most reputed education institutes in the country is the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Studying here is a dream come true for almost every student who aspires to become an engineer. However, enrolling for IIT is one of the most challenging things. The dream can become a reality only when students can crack the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and JEE Advanced exams. After IIT, everyone dreams of landing a lucrative job at an MNC like Amazon, Google or Microsoft. One of the students who cracked the JEE Exam and is now an IIT graduate who dreamed of joining Google but now has his start-up.
Pranadipan Sahoo hails from Rourkela, Odisha and was raised in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. His father dreamed that his son would study at the prestigious IIT. The young man is an admirer of Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai. He inspired Pranadipan to choose Material Science and Metallurgical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur. But life steered him to IIT Hyderabad, where he completed his final year of his degree.
Naturally, after graduating from IIT-Hyderabad, just like others, he too dreamed of joining an MNC, especially Google. But, during his time spent on the Hyderabad campus, his inclination shifted to starting something of his own. He took up leadership roles as head of the E-Cell and Tinkerers’ Lab at IIT-Hyderabad. He was able to hone his managerial skills and this inspired him to establish his start-up, Pica Pool.
His managerial skills further helped him shape his career and focus on aiming for jobs at a tech giant to develop his startup. As per Pranadipan’s LinkedIn profile, he is the co-founder of Pica Pool. Along with his business setup, he has been juggling his studies as well.
Pica Pool is a platform that provides group buying solutions by connecting individuals who are looking for the same product and enables collaborative solutions. It is a Business-To-Business (B2B) model in the retail market segments. It is also co-founded by Srijan Shahi.
