The battle between bat and ball often gets outclassed by a fielder’s marvelous piece of work. While batters and bowlers mostly dominate the game, for fielders, it is generally a rare occasion to enthrall spectators with their excellent athleticism. One such moment recently occurred during a domestic cricket match where a fielder completed a sensational catch to impress fans and opponents in equal measure. In a now-viral video on Instagram, a fielder can be seen pulling off an incredible dive to secure an unbelievable catch. The condition of the ground was certainly not top-notch but that hardly deterred the fielder from making full efforts to take the catch.
The viral video begins with a bowler, coming to bowl over the wicket, producing a widish delivery. The batter played a lofted shot in a bid to hit a maximum. But the timing of the shot was not perfect and the batter failed to clear the boundary. What appeared next, baffled everyone present at the ground. A fielder, standing in the deep extra cover region, dived towards his right to complete a sensational catch. The excellent piece of fielding was appreciated by everyone. The opposition batter even praised the fielder for completing the remarkable catch.
“Brilliant catch,” read the caption of the post shared on Instagram.
Reacting to the post, a social media user commented, “His grandsons will listen to this story with video proof.”
Some were in awe of the opposition batter’s sportsman gesture. “Spectacular catch and the Appreciation by the opposition,” wrote a person.
“Great sporting spirit from batter,” read another response.
Referring to the condition of the ground, an Instagram user cheekily observed, “Are they planning inside the swimming pool.”
A couple of days back, a video showcasing a brilliant fielding in a hilly mountainous region had gone viral. When the ball was hit across the makeshift playfield, a fielder was seen running and then masterfully scaling the mountain before grabbing the ball.

The post went viral a few weeks after former Pakistan cricketer Wahab Riaz had missed an easy catch during a World Championship of Legends match that took place on July 6.

The incident occurred during a game against India. Pakistan’s Aamer Yamin had bowled a slower delivery to Anureet Singh, who hit the ball straight into the air. Wahab Riaz tried to catch the ball but it ultimately slipped out of his hands.
