Watch: Delhi Woman Prepares Chocolate Paan Vada Pav. Foodies Say ‘We Need Justice’

Vada pav is a famous street food snack made of spicy, deep-fried potatoes topped with different chutneys. Every Maharashtrian is incredibly passionate about this perennial favourite food. For them, it’s more than just another food; it’s a sentiment and, above all, a culture. But not even this humble food could be saved by “experimental culinary scientists.” From ice cream vada pav to Croissant vada pav, the variations have failed to wow foodies. The latest addition, chocolate paan vada pav, is no different.

A video was shared by an Instagram page that shows a vendor selling these chocolate paan vada pav. She begins by slicing the pav (bread) in half, referring to it as a “sweet version of vada pav”. Then she gathers the components for the paan (Betel quid), which include cherries, chocolate paan (which will be used instead of vada), and thecha (hot chilli paste). Notably, she swaps out thecha for gulkand (rose petal jam).

She starts by spreading gulkand on the pav, then adds the vada. Next, she places cherries on top and drizzles chocolate sauce in place of chutney. She decorates the pav with additional chocolate sauce, giving it a donut-like appearance. Finally, she tops it off with a cherry.

The video has over 3 lakh views. And the best part–the foodies losing it.

A user humorously stated, “Hate from Maharashtra.”

Another user jokingly asked, “Khaa k thukna hai ya ulti karni hai? (Should we just spit it out or throw up?)”

“But isme vada kidar hai? Sirf naam mai? (But where is the vada? Only in name?),” asked a user.

“Justice for vada pav”, read another comment.

A croissant vada pav previously topped the list of absurd variations of vada pavs. The image was posted on X and featured a screenshot of the text “Croissant Vada Pav – 2 pcs” from a food delivery app.

Two croissants that had been cut in half and used instead of the Pav buns were displayed in the vegetarian meal in the frame. The croissant was stuffed with a broken Aloo Bonda and spicy peanut powder. The entrée came with a slice of lemon, two green chillies, onion rings, and fresh mint chutney on top.
