‘Washing Hands With Tears’: Renukaswamy’s Parents Break Down After Looking At ‘Torture’ Photos

Renukaswamy's father said thinking about what their son went through was causing them pain and they wanted his murderers to go through the same

Parents of Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old who was brutally murdered allegedly by actor Darshan and his aides in June, broke down after photos of their son’s torture surfaced. While Renukaswamy’s mother could not muster the courage to look at the visuals, his father said they were “washing their hands with their tears” and wanted the murderers to experience the pain that their son had to go through.

Karnataka Police accessed photos of Renukaswamy begging for mercy during his assault allegedly by Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his gang, moments before his death. One photo of a shirtless Renukaswamy sporting an injury mark and appearing scared was accessed by News18. Another photo showed Renukaswamy on the floor after being assaulted.

The photos emerged after the Karnataka Police submitted the chargesheet in the kidnap and murder case of Renukaswamy, detailing the role of jailed Kannada superstar Darshan and others involved. The chargesheet also contains the details of the brutal and inhumane torture incurred upon Renukaswamy up until his death.

“Despite my son’s constant pleas and agreeing that he did wrong, they have tortured him so badly with no mercy. It causes me immense pain. Did they have no mercy whatsoever? They gave him shocks and tortured him, sparing no body part. Imagine how much pain he must have experienced. Thinking about this causes us a lot of pain,” Renukaswamy’s father Kashinath Shivanagoudar told NDTV.

“We are washing our hands with our tears, and seeing these images has caused intolerable pain. I hope the court awards maximum punishment to the perpetrators and they face the same thing that my son went through,” he added.

‘She Will Experience Same Fate’: Victim’s Mother On Pavitra Gowda

Grappling with sorrow and anger, the victim’s mother said her daughter tried to show her the photos, but she didn’t have the courage to look at them. She also cursed Pavitra Gowda and said she should meet the same fate as her son if she was behind his murder.

“I didn’t see the viral photos, my daughter tried to show them to me, but I don’t have the patience or the strength to see it. Despite his constant pleas, they beat him up so badly. Are they even human?” she asked.

On Gowda directing Darshan and the others to kill Renukaswamy, she said, “If that’s the case, she should be punished. She will experience the same fate for doing this to my son.”
