UPSC Annual Report Of 2022-23: This Age Group Has The Highest Success Rate In The Exam

The Union Public Service Commission conducted a total of 15 recruitment exams across India in 2022-23.

Millions of young individuals appear for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination every year, with the aim of becoming top officers of the country. It recruits candidates from various top departments and positions. UPSC releases several reports annually. Recently, the commission released a report for the year 2022-23, providing detailed information about the UPSC examination and the applicants. According to the report, in the year 2022-23, the Union Public Service Commission conducted a total of 15 recruitment examinations across India. Out of these, 11 exams were conducted for recruitment to civil services, while the other four exams were for recruitments in defence services. The report states that candidates who appeared for the third time are the most successful ones.

The UPSC civil services examination is considered as the toughest examination in the country. Only a few manage to crack it. According to the UPSC Annual Report 2022-23, only 8 percent of candidates succeeded in their first attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Exam.

In which attempt are candidates most successful?

The report further states that most candidates manage to pass the UPSC exam in their third attempt. By the third attempt, candidates have a better understanding of the exam pattern, syllabus, marking scheme, and other key aspects. The experience gained in the previous two attempts helps the candidate to perform well in the third attempt which increases the chances of cracking the examination.

Which age group has the highest success rate in the UPSC exam?

There is a significant interest in government jobs among young Indians. According to the UPSC report, the majority of candidates who crack the Civil Services examination are between 24 and 26 years of age. In this age group, the success rate for male candidates is 29.4 percent, and for women candidates, it is 33.3 percent. In the age group of over 30 years, the success rate of men is 14.6 percent while among women the success rate is 12.5 percent.
