How to Apply
Aspirants can apply for the Special Task Forces (STF) by appearing in the UPSC exam. After qualifying for the tests, candidates will have to choose the police service branch or take a state-level competitive exam.
Serving personnel of policemen (positions of constable and higher-ups) are recruited for the Special Task Force depending on their exceptional records and physical capabilities.

The special task force of UP Police was created for the following objectives:
- Collecting intelligence of mafia gangs and intelligence-based action against such gangs.
- Preparation and execution of action plans against disruptive elements, especially ISI agents.
- Taking action against listed gangs in coordination with the district police.
- Effective action against robbery gangs, especially inter-district gangs.
- Taking effective action against interdistrict gangs of organised criminals.
