UP Man Murders His Chachi for Threatening to Expose Their Decades-Long Affair

The prime accused, fearing exposure of his decade-long affair with his aunt, conspired with friend Rajendra to murder her after she threatened to reveal their relationship

In a shocking turn of events, a man murdered his chachi (aunt) after a clandestine relationship spanning a decade. The incident occurred in Nasirpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district, at Asandra police station area on the evening of October 9.

The prime suspect, Shravan Kumar, nephew of the deceased, and his associate, Rajendra Kumar, were apprehended. The murder weapon, a knife, was recovered based on information provided by the accused.

During police interrogation, Shravan Kumar confessed to having an illicit relationship with his aunt for the past ten years. However, his marriage five years prior had strained their affair. The victim, unhappy with Kumar’s lack of attention towards her and waning financial support, began pressuring Shravan and even threatened to expose their relationship to his family. Fearing the consequences, Shravan conspired with his friend, Rajendra, to murder her.

After the murder, in an attempt to cover their tracks, the duo disposed of the weapon near a canal. They even staged a motorcycle accident by deliberately breaking the bike’s indicator, scratching it, and damaging the number plate to explain an injury Kumar sustained on his hand during the murder.

Barabanki Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar Singh shared the details of the crime and subsequent investigation at a press conference held at the Police Line auditorium in the district.

The victim’s husband, Ram Sumiran, reported her murder to the police on October 10, stating that she was attacked by unknown assailants while she was behind their house. The Asandra police immediately registered a case and initiated an investigation, deploying a dog squad and forensic team to examine the crime scene and gather evidence.

Utilizing a combination of traditional investigative techniques, digital data analysis, and manual intelligence, the police successfully cracked the case on October 16.
