Coimbatore in Tamil Nadi is full of hotels and street food shops, presenting a variety of dishes to the audience. Among the crowd of multi-cuisine restaurants in the city, a new eatery named Chee Food Express is garnering customers due to its novel theme and Biryani competition. The restaurant follows the theme of a railway coach. The customers are served food inside the coach. Recently, the owner of the restaurant announced a biryani eating competition with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
The restaurant is located near the Coimbatore railway station. In the Biryani eating competition, a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh has been announced for the person who eats 6 biryanis in this train hotel. Apart from that, there are more prizes like Rs 50,000 if you eat 4 biryanis and R 25,000 if you eat 3 biryanis.
“A train coach was taken from the Coimbatore railway station and converted into a restaurant. It is a 24-hour restaurant. Today we have a competition called the Poche Biryani Belly Eating Competition.” said Bobby Semmanur, owner of the Chee Food Express while talking to Local18.
It was announced that this competition would be held till 4:00 pm but due to over crowd, the match concluded at night. Shop owner Bobby Semmanur announced that he would be given a prize of Rs 50,000.
“The match started at 1 o’clock. 1,000 bookings have come. We do it for entertainment. A lot of food, lot of eating, we are creating this type of event.” added Bobby Semmanur. While explaining the source of his idea to start this novel theme restaurant, Bobby said, “I have seen this model in Europe. I wish to come here to Indian Railways. So I started my first project in Tamil Nadu from Coimbatore,” said Bobby Semmanur.
