Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Tuesday took a dig at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi for ending her fast days after she began the protest. Maliwal said, “The strength to go on a hunger strike is gained only by struggling on the ground for many years. Not by speaking lies and dirty things about others the whole day.”
“Gandhiji named the sacred method of fasting as Satyagraha. Satyagraha is always done with a true and pure heart. I fasted twice. Once for 10 days and once for 13 days. After my fast, a law was made in the country that child rapists should be given the death penalty. The path of struggle is very difficult,” Maliwal posted on X (previously Twitter).
“Well, hope Atishi ji’s health will improve soon and she will work for the people of Delhi,” she added.

Atishi had to end her hunger strike on Tuesday after being admitted to the ICU as her blood pressure and sugar levels fell drastically. A video of her being taken inside the ambulance on a stretcher went viral on social media.
Sharing an update on her health, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said that Atishi’s blood sugar level had dropped to 36 following which she was advised to be kept under supervision in the hospital.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s team hit out at the BJP, saying, “The people of Delhi will definitely give a reply to the injustice that the BJP government is doing to Delhi.”
“Delhi’s Water Minister Atishi ji was on an indefinite hunger strike so that the people of Delhi could get their rightful share of water. She has been admitted to the hospital after her health deteriorated last night. Today every Delhiite is worried about her health. The people of Delhi will definitely give a reply to the injustice that the BJP government is doing to Delhi. We all wish Atishi ji good health. Every Delhiite is with her in this Satyagraha,” Kejriwal’s team posted on X.

Atishi had begun her indefinite hunger strike in South Delhi’s Bhogal on Friday to press the demand for more water from Haryana. The minister claimed that Haryana for the last two weeks was releasing 100 million gallons per day less water to Delhi against its share of 613 MGD, as a result, 28 lakh people in Delhi were affected.
