Tejalben Gor Honoured as Bhuj’s Best Teacher for 11 Years of Dedication to Rural Education

Tejalben has been the principal of Gandher Primary School, Kutch for the past 5 years. She is also the first female principal of the school

As India commemorates Teachers’ Day and the National Teachers Award 2024, Tejalben Gor of Bhuj taluka, Kutch, stands out as an iconic representation of dedication and impact in the field of education. Tejalben, who has over 11 years of experience teaching Mathematics and Science, has emerged as a leader in her subject, particularly in the challenging setting of rural education.

Tejalben has been the principal of Gandher Primary School, located in a rural region of Kutch, for the past five years. Her appointment as the institution’s first female principal was a significant turning point. Under her guidance, the school, which was previously deemed underperforming, has undergone exceptional changes. Tejalben’s creative approach to education and emphasis on comprehensive growth have driven her students to national-level competitions.

Her accomplishments in the field of education have not gone unnoticed. Tejalben was recently honoured with the “Sandipani Guru Gaurav Award” during the Guru Purnima event at Sandipani Vidyaniketan in Porbandar for showcasing her extraordinary commitment to her teaching career. This Teachers’ Day, she will be honoured as the best teacher in Bhuj taluka, an accolade that recognises her unshakeable dedication and the enormous influence she has had on her students and community at large.

Tejalben Gor’s story demonstrates how a teacher’s commitment may influence how students turn out in the future. Her tireless efforts have not only raised the spirits of her students but also given her city great pride, proving that good educational leadership can produce exceptional achievements and societal change.

To celebrate Teachers’ Day, President Draupadi Murmu will honour 50 outstanding educators from across India with the National Teachers Award 2024. The ceremony will recognise these exceptional teachers with a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a silver medal, and a certificate. Each year, faculty members from colleges, universities, higher educational institutions, and polytechnics nationwide can apply for this prestigious award.

The National Teachers Award 2024 selection process involves two distinct stages. First, a preliminary screening committee conducts an initial shortlist of candidates. Following this, a jury committee reviews the shortlisted nominees to select the final awardees.
