A video of a woman village sarpanch (head) clad in ghungat (veil) giving a speech in fluent English during an event in front of IAS officer Tina Dabi in Rajasthan’s Barmer has gone viral on social media. The video clip captures the UPSC 2015 topper, Dabi’s reaction to the village sarpanch speaking fluent English.

Tina Dabi, who was recently posted as the District Collector of Barmer, was invited to the said event as the Guest of Honour. The viral video showed Sarpanch Sonu Kanwar, wearing traditional Rajasthani attire standing on the dais and welcoming the Collector. “I am glad to be part of this day. First of all, I welcome our collector Tina ma’am. Being a woman, it’s an honour to welcome Tina ma’am,” the sarpanch said at the function.

She delivered her speech with such proficiency leaving Dabi astonished. The sarpanch’s speech was met with enthusiastic applause.
