The Advance Security Liaison drill includes site assessments, coordination with local police, advance planning, and threat analysis
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has been elevated to the status of an Advance Security Liaison (ASL) protectee with Z+ security based on threat perception and a recent security review.
Bhagwat, already a Z+ protectee, joins the list of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, LoP Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Vadra who get Z+ security with ASL.
Not all Z+ protectees have ASL drill which focuses on preparing and managing security measures to ensure the safety of the protectee. A team visits the place where the protectee is scheduled to arrive to assess security arrangements. The drill includes site assessments, coordination with local police, advance planning, and threat analysis.
A senior police official said during site assessments, the force that is providing security conducts thorough assessments of locations where the protectee will be present to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
“We coordinate and liaison with local police, event organisers, and other relevant parties to ensure all security arrangements are in place and prepare a detailed security plans for the protectee’s movements. ASL protectees get special attention with respect to identifying and analysing potential threats or risks,” a senior official supervising security of protectees told News18.
The official added: “The Prime Minister of India gets a different level of security cover and a dedicated force is responsible for it. SPG protects the prime minister and apart from ASL, several other drills are involved. Comparing Z+ security with ASL to the prime minister’s security is not correct.”
