A new initiative in Rajasthan government schools aims to encourage students to plant trees and exhibit good behaviour by awarding them extra marks. Students will receive four marks for demonstrating good behaviour and 10 marks for planting a tree. The marks awarded will vary depending on the class.
State Education Minister Madan Dilawar announced that this program, designed for students in Classes 6 to 12, is intended to enhance both their academic performance and their conduct. According to The Times of India, the Rajasthan Education Department has decided to award extra marks to school children for their good behaviour and for planting trees.
Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar said, “This initiative aims to enhance both the educational performance and conduct of students. Under this initiative, fifth-grade students will get four marks for good conduct and ten marks for planting trees, while eighth-graders will get six marks for good conduct and ten marks for planting trees.”
The minister further said,”Tenth-grade students will get six marks for good conduct and seven marks for planting trees. 12th grade students will get seven marks for planting trees and six marks for good conduct.”
The minister announced that this initiative is designed for students from Classes 6 to Class 12. Students can earn extra marks by planting more trees. The minister said that in addition to marks for final exams and projects, students will also be awarded points for their tree-planting efforts and behaviour. This approach aims to improve their overall educational development.
Dilawar emphasised that planting trees is crucial for environmental protection. “School children will help make the state greener by becoming environmental protectors, and the positive impact will be visible.”
“Students will have the opportunity to plant trees not only at the school but also at their home and in public spaces. Geotagging will be done and teachers will monitor the activities. Marks will be awarded based on their performance,” the minister added.
