Known by the nickname “Gabbar Master,” Shantanu Parashar, a dedicated government teacher, travels 16 kilometres from his home to check on whether the students are studying at home, even going as far as creating timetables for them. This unique initiative has led to significant improvement in the student’s performance at the local school. His dedication and commitment to his duties are truly commendable.
Shantanu Parashar became a senior teacher in 2010, and later, he was appointed to the Government Senior Upadhyay Sanskrit School in Hajaripura village, Karauli. Aware of the poor state of education in the village, he decided to take an innovative approach to improve it.
He observed that, due to a lack of facilities and resources, the children’s self-esteem regarding education had diminished. To boost their confidence, he even stays with them at night when needed, particularly during exam times, to ensure they are fully supported. Parashar proudly states that his unique campaign has yielded excellent results.
When Parashar first started teaching at the village’s government school, there were just 156 students enrolled. But after launching his initiative, not only did local students begin to develop a strong interest in education, but they also started securing higher marks in all subjects.
In addition to improving academic performance, Parashar runs daily campaigns featuring innovations to promote environmental protection and patriotism among the children in the village. He has also adopted many financially disadvantaged children, providing them with essential supplies and educational resources to ensure they never miss out on opportunities due to their circumstances.
