Odisha Govt Introduces New School Uniforms For Classes 9, 10

According to officials, schools that have not yet had the previous design’s uniforms sewn or distributed may use the new one.

A year after changing the school uniforms for students in classes 9 and 10 in the state’s government schools, the BJP government in Odisha proposed a uniform colour change. The Department of School and Mass Education announced that class 9 and 10 students would now need to wear new uniforms in a letter to the Director of Secondary Education. According to officials, schools that have not yet had the previous design’s uniforms sewn or distributed may use the new one.

Furthermore, the new uniforms have been chosen for government and government-aided secondary school students under the Chief Minister’s Students’ Wear Scheme. In addition, schools that did not receive the old uniforms— which were not stitched or supplied —will get the new ones after instructions have been given by the concerned department.

“New uniforms have been selected for government and government-aided secondary school students under the “Chief Minister’s Students’ Wear Scheme”. Necessary instructions have been issued. New uniforms will be distributed to schools where old uniforms are not stitched/distributed,” the Information and Public Relations Department Govt. of Odisha said in a post on X, which roughly translates to English.

The revised uniforms will have shades of chocolate, light brown, and clay-baked yellow, per the official mandate. While the girls will be dressed in red rust churidar and full-sleeved clay-bake yellow shirts over checkered clay-bake yellow shirts, the boys will be dressed in red rust pants and checkered clay-bake yellow shirts. According to officials, the pockets on the boys’ and girls’ uniforms will be the colour of the chocolate rush. Also included will be two sets of clothes, shoes, and socks. Through the “Mukhyamantri Chhatra Chhatri Paridhan” programme, the uniforms are being supplied.
