In a decisive move against insurgency in Upper Assam, the Indian Army apprehended a cadre of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) in a joint operation with the Assam Police. The operation, which took place at Inthem Ghat in the Pengree area of Tinsukia district, resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition intended for insurgent activities.
Acting on precise intelligence inputs about the presence of insurgents in the region, a joint team of the Indian Army and Assam Police launched a coordinated search operation in the early hours of September 12. Among the items recovered were two pistols, three high-explosive grenades, and a substantial quantity of live ammunition, all of which are believed to have been meant for carrying out subversive activities.

The captured insurgent and the recovered items were handed over to Assam Police for further questioning and legal proceedings.
