Noel Tata: Wife, Family, Educational Background, All You Need to Know About Him

Noel Tata was appointed on October 11 as chairman of the Tata group’s philanthropic arm, Tata Trusts. He succeeds his half-brother Ratan Tata, who died on October 9 at the age of 86.

He is the son of Naval Tata from his second marriage. He is already a trustee on the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust board and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust.

Educational Qualification Of Noel Naval Tata

He holds a degree from Sussex University (UK) and has completed the International Executive Programme (IEP) at INSEAD. Before joining the Tata Group, he worked with Nestlé in the UK.

Family

Noel is the son of Naval and Simone Tata. Noel Tata is married to Aloo Mistry, daughter of the late Pallonji Mistry, who was once the largest individual shareholder in Tata Sons. This marriage further intertwined Noel Tata with another powerful business family, the Mistrys. Noel and Aloo have three children: Maya, Neville, and Leah, who are gradually becoming involved in the Tata Group, contributing to the family’s legacy.

Interestingly, Noel Tata holds Irish citizenship, a result of his family’s global connections, but his identity and work remain firmly tied to India.

Leah, 39, serves on the Tata Education Trust, Tata Social Welfare Trust, and Sarvajanik Trust. Maya, 36, serves on the RD Tata Trust, as well as the Tata Education Trust and Sarvajanik Trust, while Neville, 32, was named to the board of the Tata Indian Institute of Skills (TIIS).

Current Role

Currently, Noel is vice-chairman of watchmaker Titan and Tata Steel. He is also the chairman of Tata Group’s retail company Trent (the owner of Zudio and Westside) and its NBFC firm Tata Investment Corp. Noel also serves on the board of Voltas.

He is also the managing director of Tata International, where he began his career. It is after this appointment in 2010-11 when the speculation started that Noel was being groomed to succeed Ratan Tata as the head of the Tata group.
