The NID DAT 2025 prelims exam will be held in January 2025 and the card will be out in the fourth week of December
The National Institute of Design (NID has started the online registration process for the NID Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT) Prelims 2025. Candidates who meet the requirements and are interested in applying for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des) programmes can register on the official website, admission.nid.edu. Candidates may apply for NID DAT 2025 until December 3 without any late fee charges.
According to the official exam schedule, the NID DAT 2025 (Prelims) exam will be held in January 2025. The NID entrance card will be out in the fourth week of December, which will include the name of the exam centre. The DAT preliminary exams will take place in 22 cities around the nation.
NIT DAT 2025; Eligibility Criteria
–– Candidates who have passed or plan to take the Class 12 qualifying exam in any stream from any recognised board in the academic year 2024–2025 are eligible to apply for BDes courses, provided they meet the minimum eligibility requirements.
–– MDes candidates must have completed Class 12 and hold a full-time certificate in design, fine arts, applied arts, or architecture from an accredited institution, or a three- or four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
NID DAT 2025: How To Register?
Step 1: Go to nid.edu, the NID’s official website.
Step 2: Select the ‘academic’ option from the homepage.
Step 3: The screen will change to a new page.
Step 4: Click on the “Admission 2025–26 for B Des and M Des is now OPEN” link under the heading.
Step 5: In the “How to Apply” section, select “Signup” to apply.
Step 6: Register and continue with the application form.
Step 7: Submit your application and pay the registration fee.
Step 8: Print a copy of your application for your records.

NIT DAT 2025: Exam Schedule
The DAT preliminary exam will be administered using paper pen mode. The B.Des exam will run for three hours (10 am to 1 pm), while the M.Des exam will run for two and a half hours (10 am to 12.30 pm) tentatively.
The National Institute of Design (NID) administers the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) for candidates seeking admission to NID-participating institutes’ Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Master of Design (MDes) programmes. There are now 425 places available for the B.Des programme, and 347 seats are available for the M.Des programme.
The NID Ahmedabad, NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Haryana, NID Madhya Pradesh and NID Assam campuses are five locations where B.Des admission will take place. Meanwhile, NID Ahmedabad, NID Gandhinagar and NID Bengaluru are the three campuses that provide the M.Des programme.
