NEET PG 2024 Exam Date to Be Announced Next Week, Confirms NBEMS President

The decision was taken after a meeting between NBEMS officials and the Union Health Ministry.

The National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is expected to announce the exam date for the National Eligibility Entrance Test, Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 next week, NBEMS president Abhijat Sheth told ANI. The decision was taken after a meeting between NBEMS officials and the Union Health Ministry to assess the situation and feedback to the government.

Following the controversy surrounding the leak in the NEET UG exams, the NBEMS had cancelled the NEET PG 2024 exam just 12 hours before the scheduled date of June 23.

It is important to mention that the NEET PG 2024 exam was initially scheduled for March 3 but was then postponed to July 7. However, the National Medical Commission (NMC) postponed the exam to June 23 due to the Rath Yatra event, which was also cancelled following the NEET UG controversy.

The NBEMS president stressed that the integrity of the NEET-PG exam was never in question. However, recent concerns raised by students have prompted the government to revise the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols to ensure the sanctity, safety and security of the exam.

Earlier, the National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences (NBEMS) had announced a change in the examination mode for the National Eligibility Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024. The NBEMS stated that various medical entrance exams conducted in the country will have compulsory time-bound sections.

“The NBEMS has decided to introduce mandatory time-bound sections in all MCQ-based examinations such as NEET-PG, NEET-MDS, NEET-SS, FMGE, DNB-PDCET, GPAT, DPEE, FDST and FET conducted on a computer-based platform. This measure has been taken to enhance the security and sanctity of the examinations given the new threats during the examination process,” the examination board had earlier stated.

According to the notification, the new pattern is divided into several time-bound sections, with candidates having to complete each section within the allotted time before moving on to the next one. It should be noted that a candidate cannot check or change his answers to a section after the allotted time has elapsed.

The examination will last for 3 hours and 30 minutes and will comprise 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with four possible answers each. The examination is divided into several time-bound sections following the updated examination structure.
