National Testing Agency Issues Warning Against Fake Accounts Spreading Misinformation

Reportedly, an account called @DG_NTA was gaining a lot of traction on the social media site, which was revealed to be a fake handle.

The NTA is under a lot of media scrutiny these days due to the controversies involving the examinations of NEET UG (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) and UGC NET (National Eligibility Test). According to the latest reports, the agency has warned the users against the accounts impersonating the official handle of NTA.

The official X account of the National Testing Agency is followed by more than 7 lakh users. Since the NEET and NET controversies, the handle has issued several clarifications related to the examinations. Recently, they clarified to the users that they should only follow the official account while advising them to avoid stumbling upon fake accounts.

Reportedly, an account called @DG_NTA was gaining a lot of traction on the social media site, which was revealed to be a fake handle. The similarities between NTA’s official handle @NTA_Exams and the fake handle were reported to be too much. So, the agency sent a tweet, warning the users of the impersonator. The tweet read, “Attention Followers! The official Twitter account of the National Testing Agency (NTA) is @NTA_Exams.The Twitter account @DG_NTA is not an official account of NTA and is a fake account operated by someone else. All are requested to follow the official account @NTA_Exams of NTA.”

In some new reports, it was claimed that the NTA’s website and portals related to it, are experiencing security breaches or are hacked. In a new tweet, NTA denied all the allegations, stating that such reports are misleading and inaccurate. Their statement read, “NTA website and all its web portals are fully secure. Any information that they have been compromised and hacked is wrong and misleading.”

The NTA has been receiving extensive criticism after the NEET irregularities and NET exam cancellation. As per reports, the education minister Dharmendra Pradhan acknowledged that the paper leaks have impacted around 35 lakh students across the country, which resulted in the removal of Subodh Kumar Singh, ex-NTA chief.
