Muzaffarnagar Jailer Gets Death Threat Over Phone, Caller’s Name Has Thrown Cops Off Guard

A Muzaffarnagar jailer received death threats from someone who has a long criminal history and was earlier lodged at his jail

The prison guard of the district jail in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar received death threats over phone. He claimed that a police inspector from Meerut district who was expelled from service threatened to kill him.

After he lodged a complaint, the police have registered a case against the Inspector under Sections 221, 351 (2), 351 (3) and 352 of the law and have launched an investigation to nab the accused.

Rajesh Singh, the prison guard of the district jail in Muzaffarnagar, has filed a written complaint at the New Mandi police station stating that he received the call on the night of August 23 on his Closed User Group phone number.

The accused, former police Inspector Amit Kumar had gone to jail from Meerut district in an earlier case. Following this, he was shifted to Muzaffarnagar prison. It was claimed that Kumar used to misbehave with prison staff and used to constantly pressurize them to allow him to meet prisoners without proper authorization. The victim said in his complaint that when he protested against this practice, the Inspector used to threaten him at his workspace.

Amit Kumar was released on bail in April. Following his release, he called up Rajesh Kumar and threatened to kill him and his children, the prison guard claimed.

Inspector Amit Kumar has a long criminal history. There are about 22 criminal cases registered against him. Rajesh Singh has refused to speak anything about this.

Superintendent of Police City Satyanarayan Prajapat said that a written complaint has been given by jailer Rajesh Singh, currently posted in the district prison of Muzaffarnagar district, at police station New Mandi. The SP said that it has been claimed that a former prisoner who was lodged at the district jail was threatening to kill Singh over phone. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law at police station New Mandi. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, he said.
