Mumbai Metro Services Extended Till 11:30 PM for Ganpati Festival, More Rides Between Key Stations; Check Details

The MMMOCL has introduced additional trips between Gundavali, Dahisar (East), and Andheri (West), to reduce congestion and ensure a smoother commute for the city's residents.

Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) has announced extended metro services to accommodate the surge in commuters during the Ganpati Festival 2024, one of Mumbai’s most celebrated events. The extension aims to enhance transportation convenience for late night travellers.

The announcement, made by Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA, came as part of the city’s efforts to ensure smooth commuting during the festival, known for its late night celebrations. Dr Mukherjee emphasised the importance of ensuring that the large number of devotees attending the festival can return home safely and efficiently. “Ganpati Festival is a significant cultural event in Mumbai, and it is our responsibility to provide seamless transportation for all devotees and citizens. By extending the metro train services, we are making sure that commuters have an efficient and convenient option to travel late at night during the festive season,” he stated.

The extended services will be available between September 11 and September 17, 2024, with the last metro from Andheri (West) and Gundavali terminals running until 23:30 hours, half an hour later than usual. Additional services will also be provided between key stations, allowing for more flexibility for commuters. Notably, MMMOCL has introduced additional trips between Gundavali, Dahisar (East), and Andheri (West), to reduce congestion and ensure a smoother commute for the city’s residents.

Rubal Agarwal, IAS, Managing Director of Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to prioritising the needs of commuters during the festival season. “We have always prioritised the needs of our commuters, and the decision to extend train timings during the Ganpati Festival reflects our commitment to enhancing commuter experience. The additional services will not only reduce congestion but also ensure safe and reliable travel for those returning home after participating in festival activities,” she added.

Details of Extended Services

The last train service from Andheri (West) and Gundavali terminals will now operate at 23:30 hours, with additional trips scheduled as follows:

1. Gundavali to Andheri (West): 22:20 hrs, 22:39 hrs, 22:50 hrs, and 23:00 hrs (4 trips)

2. Andheri (West) to Gundavali: 22:20 hrs, 22:40 hrs, 22:50 hrs, and 23:00 hrs (4 trips)

3. Gundavali to Dahisar (East): 23:15 hrs and 23:30 hrs (2 trips)

4. Andheri (West) to Dahisar (East): 23:15 hrs and 23:30 hrs (2 trips)

5. Dahisar (East) to Andheri (West): 22:53 hrs, 23:12 hrs, 23:22 hrs, and 23:33 hrs (4 trips)

6. Dahisar (East) to Gundavali: 22:57 hrs, 23:17 hrs, 23:27 hrs, and 23:36 hrs (4 trips)
