A man named Mohammad Saifi attempted to punch the union minister on face during the Janta darbaar proceedings.

Union minister and senior BJP leader Giriraj Singh was attacked on Saturday by a man after the latter held a Janta Darbar in Balia town of Begusarai district in Bihar.

A man named Mohammad Saifi attempted to punch the union minister on face during the Janta darbaar proceedings. According to News18 Hindi, the accused first captured the microphone in the darbaar and started speaking objectionable things to which the BJP mebers present there protested. During the chaos, Saifi attempted to punch Singh.

However, the Begusarai MP narrowly escaped and left unhurt. It is reported that Mohd Saifi is a ward councillor from a village in Ballia subdivision and a public representative.

The police immediately took over the chaotic situation and held the accused into their custody. After the interrogation and investigation by the police team, it will be revealed that why the accused took such a step.

Meanwhile, Singh also reacted to the attempted attack on him and said that he not afraid of such attacks and people.

“I am Giriraj and I will always speak and fight for the interests of the society. I am not going to be scared by these attacks. Those who pamper and caress them on seeing their beard and cap should see today how land jihad, love jihad and communal tension is being created in the entire country including Begusarai, Bihar,” he said while posting a video on X.

Earlier, the union minister welcomed the the abolition of “Friday namaz break” in the Assam legislative assembly, where it had been in force since the British era.

Talking to journalists in Bihar’s Begusarai district, his Lok Sabha constituency, Singh also slammed leaders of the INDIA bloc for raising objections to the move in the northeastern state ruled by the BJP.

“I thank the Speaker of the assembly in Assam as well as the government of the state for taking the step. It is essential to have uniformity in law and no preferential treatment should be given to any religious community,” Singh said.

Known to be a Hindutva hardliner, Singh bristled when it was pointed out to him that many of the BJP’s opponents have taken a critical view of the step. He said, “Leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav are champions of the Muslim vote bank. If they had their way, there would be holidays across the country every Friday.”
