Man Produces ‘Live-in Relationship Agreement’ In Court To Get Bail in Rape Case Filed By Partner

The 29-year-old woman who filed the case against him told a Mumbai court that the signature on the document was not hers

A 46-year-old man produced a “live-in relationship agreement” claiming that they would not file any case of sexual harassment against each other, in order to secure pre-arrest bail in a rape case that was filed by his partner in Mumbai.

He was granted bail by the court in connection to the rape case on August 29.

However, the 29-year-old woman who filed the case against him told a Mumbai court that the signature on the document was not hers.

The woman is employed as a caregiver for the elderly, while the accused is a government employee, police said. The officials are now trying to verify the ‘so-called relationship pact’, an NDTV report stated.

As per the allegations made by the woman, her partner raped her multiple times during the time they were living together and had promised to marry her.

The lawyer, Sunil Pandey, representing the accused at the court has called it a case of fraud.

According to Pandey, “The applicant has been falsely implicated in the case. He is a victim of circumstances. They were in a live-in relationship. The agreement shows that both of them had agreed to be in a relationship. The agreement was made, the woman signed it. The agreement shows that both of them had agreed to be in a relationship.”

Here’s the Official Agreement Between The Couple

The seven-point agreement that was signed between the two stated their decision to stay together from August 1 2024 to June 30, 2025.

In the second clause, it was stated that during this period both of them will not file any case of sexual harassment against each other and will spend their time peacefully.

As per the third clause, the woman will live with the man at his home and if in any case she finds his behavior inappropriate they can separate any time but after giving a notice of one month.

The woman’s relatives cannot come to her house during the time she stays with him, the fourth clause stated.

The fifth clause further stated that the woman should not cause any kind of harassment or mental agony to the man.

Incase the woman gets pregnant during this period, the man will not be held responsible, the sixth clause said.

In the final and the seventh clause, it is stated that if the harassment leads to any kind mental trauma to the man and ruins his life, the woman will be held responsible.
