Man Goes Missing From Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani Express; Luggage, Mobile Found

The man, identified as Mausam Ghosh, allegedly boarded the Rajdhani Express from New Delhi station on June 27 and was supposed to reach Sealdah on the following day

A 40-year old man from West Bengal’s Dumdum Cantonment area, who was travelling via the New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani Express has been reported to be missing since June 27.

The Indian Railways is currently at the face of several questions in terms of safety concerns of passengers following some devastating accidents like that of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express and the Kanchenjunga express. Now, the incident of a person going missing from one of the top-notch trains of the country has again pointed fingers towards the railway authorities.

The man, identified as Mausam Ghosh, allegedly boarded the Rajdhani Express from New Delhi station on June 27 and was supposed to reach Sealdah on the following day. However on June 28, Ghosh did not reach his destination, even though his luggage and mobile phone was found lying unattended inside one of the coaches.

As per media reports, one of his friends had gone to the railway station to receive him but he was unable to find him. Ghosh’s friend kept calling him and the call was later received by one of the RPF officials who informed that the phone was found inside the train.

Following this, the man’s friend contacted his family members who soon rushed to the station. To their surprise, even though Mausam’s luggage and mobile phone was found, the man himself was nowhere to be seen. Distraught, they approached the Government Railway Police (GRP) but they refused to lodge any missing complaint, Bengali news website 24 Ghanta reported.

The family members then lodged a complaint at the Dumdum police station but no trace of him has been found yet. Ghosh’s family members have raised questions citing the security system of Rajdhani express, which is one of the premier train services running across the country.

According to police, they have sent the details of the missing person at every possible place. The railways however have not responded to any of the media queries regarding this incident.
