Now, the Karnataka Police Department has issued a notice calling it fake and asked the citizens to be aware. For emergency assistance, the Karnataka Police Department has urged the citizens to call 112.

Some fraudsters had spread false news that the police had started a new travel scheme and would provide free travel to women from 10 pm to 6 am. The fake notice mentions that the Police have started a free travel scheme where any woman who is alone and is unable to find a vehicle to go home between 10 pm and 6 am can request a vehicle from the police. In the notice, the miscreants have provided the helpline numbers 1091 or 7837018555 to request a vehicle.

The city police have clarified that this is fake news. There is no free travel scheme. City police have clarified that citizens should call 112 in case of emergency. Such messages can create a misunderstanding in the public regarding the police and its emergency services. With the cases against the safety of women circulating on the internet, such fake messages often create a catalysing factor in the birth of another crime.

The citizens are urged to always read information and notices from the official website or social media of the state police department.
