BSF Jawan Wounded In Firing From Pakistani Side In Jammu, Troops On High Alert

Unprovoked firing on a BSF post in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir left one BSF jawan injured in the wee hours of Wednesday.

One Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured after firing on a BSF post in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The gunfire was reported at nearly 2.35 am on Wednesday, in the Kanachak area of Jammu.

A high alert was sounded in the area.

According to the details, a snipper was used by Pakistan rangers to target the BSF.

In an official statement, the BSF said, “On September 11, 2024, at about 2.35 am, an incident of unprovoked firing in the Akhnoor area from across the border happened which was befittingly responded by the BSF.”

“One BSF personnel sustained injuries in Pak firing; troops are on high alert,” it said.

The injured jawan was admitted to a hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

On September 9, two heavily armed terrorists were killed in a gunfight with the security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.

The gunfight broke out in the Laam area of the Nowshera sector late on Sunday night after alert Army troops noticed terrorists trying to sneak into this side from across the border, officials told news agency PTI.

Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to take place in three phases — September 18, September 25 and October 1.
