IPS Officer Quaiser Khalid Suspended For Deadly Hoarding Collapse in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar

The Maharashtra government on Tuesday suspended IPS officer Quaiser Khalid, who was serving as the Commissioner of the Government Railway Police. He has been accused of allowing the illegal hoarding that collapsed in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area without the go-ahead from the Director General of Police’s (DGP) office.

On May 13, the illegal hoarding collapse resulted in the deaths of 17 people and injuries to over 70. The hoarding collapsed onto a petrol pump amid gusty winds and a dust storm that day. He was born in Araria, Bihar. He completed his education at the schools in Araria. After this, he was admitted to Science College Patna. He has been a great student since the beginning. He has also received many scholarships from class four until the completion of his education.

According to the LinkedIn profile of IPS officer Quaiser, he has completed a BA and MA in geography, and he has passed both with first division.

Following that, in 1997, he was recruited by the Indian Police Service (IPS). He secured the 115th rank in the UPSC examination.

IPS officer Quaiser Khalid, who was suspended by the Maharashtra government, is currently posted as ADG PCR (Protection of Civil Rights). According to his LinkedIn profile, after being selected as an IPS officer, he has held various positions in the police department at different places in Maharashtra for 19 years.

Following this, he was appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Mumbai. After this, he was made Commissioner of Police Railway Mumbai.

Along with IPS officer Quaiser Khalid, he also emerged as a writer in 2005. He rose to prominence as a writer after editing and releasing the poetry collection of Syed Ali Mohammad in Azeemabad. His critically acclaimed first poetry collection, “Shour-e-Asar,” was published in 2014. For this, he also bagged the Maharashtra State Sahitya Academy Award.

Later, his second poetry collection, “Dasht-e-Jaan,” was published in the year 2016.
