Giant fish are not commonly found here. Small fish of this species are occasionally found in this centre.
This species of fish is now on the verge of extinction. It is not cultivated on a large scale, but the price is quite good in the market due to their excellent-tasting flesh and lack of fine bones. Fishermen said that it is currently sold in the market at Rs 400 to 500 per kg.
