In MP’s Damoh, 27 Schools To Soon Go Bagless? What We Know

Damoh has lagged in terms of education in the last two years. However, the District Collector, Sudhir Kochhar made continuous efforts to develop the level of the education system.

In 27 pre-primary government schools of the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh, several facilities like bagless education and play school facilities will be available. School hours will begin from 10:15 to 11:10 in the morning, and children should be given information about mid-day meals, air, water, trees, plants, forests, vegetables etc. They will also be shown pictures and will be engaged in conversations about colours, sizes, shapes, numbers, figures etc. which will connect them to general knowledge education.

Damoh has lagged in terms of education in the last two years. However, the District Collector, Sudhir Kochhar made continuous efforts to develop the level of the education system.

Many classes have been started in pre-primary schools in the district like private schools. Earlier these classes were started in 27 schools in the district, where classes began on July 1. Nursery, KG-1 and KG-2 classes are also held in these schools.

According to DPC Mukesh Dwivedi, from now on children will be able to take admission in government schools at the age of 3, 4 and 5 years. In earlier times, nursery, KG-1 and KG-2 classes were not started in these schools like the private ones, due to which the educational foundation was weak.

However, the District Collector helped in strengthening the educational foundation continuously. The District Magistrate not only inspects the government schools any day of the week and tastes the mid-day mal given to the children, but also gives necessary guidelines to the cooks. The DM’s inspection also includes ensuring quality education to the students including infrastructure and monitoring teaching standards and availability of resources in the schools.

However, the introduction of bagless education aims to ease the stress experienced by students and will be relevant to both the government and private schools in the state. The government has also provided a notice regarding the specific weight limits of students’ bags based on their respective classes. For students in classes 1 and 2, the maximum weight limit will be 1.6 to 2.2 kg whereas the weight limit of the bags of students in classes 11 and 12 will be determined by the school management committee based on the streams chosen by the students.

Bagless education will be provided to the children studying in Nursery, KG-1 and KG-2 classes. Children will also be provided with facilities like play school. Though the play school facilities were only available in Anganwadis, now this facility will also be provided to children from 27 schools in the district.
