In Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru, Locals Perform Puja Seeking Relief From Rains

Hundreds of villagers, residents of the Kalasa taluk in Chikkamagaluru, engaged in the worship of Lord Kalaseshwara at the Kalaseshwara temple.

The state of Karnataka is going through a period of intense rains, which has badly disrupted the lives of the citizens. Going through such a situation, the locals of the Chikkamagaluru city, have performed a special puja to stop the unbearable rains, reports Local18.

In Chikkamagaluru, which is located in the Malnad region, the rains have proven to be a huge problem for the citizens. According to Local18, a flood-like situation is being reported from the area, throwing the residents in an atmosphere of danger. The places of Kalasa, Horanadu, Sringeri and Koppa were reported to be under flood-like situations, where the crops and land have been destroyed. Due to such an extreme situation, the people of Kalasa and nearby regions have performed the Agilu Seva Puja to Lord Kalaseshwara, asking the deity to halt the destructive rains.

Local 18 states that the Agilu Seva Puja is a special worship, practised in the Malnad region of Karnataka. Hundreds of villagers, residents of the Kalasa taluk, engaged in the worship of Lord Kalaseshwara at the Kalaseshwara temple. They prayed for the stoppage of the continuous heavy rain and the disasters that ensued because of it. The puja was performed on the special request of the villagers, states Local 18.

The villagers have been serving the lord for a long time, worshipping him to prevent the rains. They have held the belief for centuries that engaging in worship of the deity during calamities like droughts will fulfil any type of wish. So, at the moment, the people of Kalasa are suffering due to heavy and destructive rains. They have decided to seek the help of Lord Kalaseshwara to find relief from the unexpected and extreme climate, which has even endangered the lives of the locals.
