In Bengal’s Malda, Hilsa Fish Thief Caught Red-handed In Market

The arrested man, a resident of Arapur, Kotwali, is accused of stealing a box of hilsa fish from the Rathbari fish depot in Malda.

People from the state of West Bengal love eating fish. In a recent development, a person reportedly stole some fish and was reportedly selling them in the market when he was caught red-handed. This incident created a massive stir in the market. People were left amazed after knowing about this.

The fish that the man stole was Bengal’s beloved delicacy, Hilsa fish. Those were reportedly stolen from a large fish market in the city of Malda. The stolen Hilsa fish was being sold in the fish market, where the real owner caught the accused red-handed and handed over the accused to the police. This incident reportedly took place at the Kotwali market in Malda, Bengal.

According to the police sources, the arrested man is a resident of Arapur, Kotwali. He is accused of stealing a box of Hilsa fish from the Rathbari fish depot in Malda. After stealing the fish, the man was reportedly selling it at the Kotwali market. The local businessmen caught him in the act and tied him up with a rope till the police officials arrived.

Later, the police from the English Bazar police station arrived at the market and took the accused along with the box of fish to the police station. However, the accused claimed that he did not steal the fish but bought it for around Rs 700 from outside the depot. A police official stated, “We have brought the accused and the fish to the police station along with the box of fish. However, the man has claimed that he hasn’t stolen it.” The accused said that he was wrongfully arrested on suspicion of theft. The police have started an investigation to find out what exactly has happened.

The Hilsa fish arrives in the markets of West Bengal during the monsoon season. It is the state fish of Bengal and the national fish of Bangladesh.
