Students will enjoy a long weekend, as October 11 and 12 have been declared holidays, followed by Sunday, October 13.
Schools and colleges in Rajasthan along with other educational institutions will remain closed on October 11 and 12 on the occasion of Durgashtami and Dussehra. The decision has been taken by the state government so that students along with teachers can celebrate the festival with their families. Moreover, October 13 is a Sunday, which means students will have a long weekend from October 11. Along with this, government offices and banks will also be closed on the said dates.
Following the three-day holiday, schools and educational institutions will commence on Monday, October 14. In case of any queries, parents are advised to connect with school authorities regarding details of the reopening of schools.

To mark the occasion, a bank holiday has also been announced in the state over the long weekend. Government offices and banks will remain closed from Friday, October 11, to Sunday, October 13. Services will resume on Monday, October 14.
Moreover, many schools remain closed for 10 days on the special occasion of Durga Puja in West Bengal. The Telangana government, on the other hand, has announced holidays for government schools across the state from October 2 to October 14. Schools will resume classes again on October 15.
The festival of Navratri started on October 3 in India and will end with Vijay Dashami on October 12. The auspicious festival honours the 9 forms of Maa Durga and celebrates her triumph over the demon king Mahishasura, symbolising the victory of good over evil. Durgashtami, also called Maha Ashtami, is the eighth day during the nine-day Navratri festivities. On this occasion, devotees worship Goddess Mahagauri, who represents the divine feminine power and ultimate source of energy and strength. Devotees also observe a fast, offer special prayers, and perform rituals to seek Maa Durga’s blessings. On the other hand, Dussehra or Vijay Dashami will mark the end of Navratri 2024. Schools will remain closed to allow students and teachers to participate in various festivities of the day, such as performing traditional dances, burning effigies of Ravana, and offering prayers to the divine Goddess.
