Hippopotamus Charges At A Pride Of Lionesses, What Unfolds Next Is Absolute Chaos

In photos, a hippopotamus, or hippo, may look adorable and shy. These mammals are quite aggressive and violent. It is estimated that a hippo attack can kill about 500 people every year in Africa. And it is not their size and weight, but their razor-sharp teeth. They are known to be very territorial. So, what happens when a hippo charges a group of lionesses? It might be one-of-a-kind of a fight as lionesses are known for their excellent hunting skills. Something similar happened at Kruger National Park in South Africa.

Recently, at South Africa’s Kruger National Park, a fight broke out between one of the largest land mammals, hippos versus excellent predators, lionesses. A tourist shot the fight sequel, Barry Smith. He shared that he was watching a pride of lionesses resting by the water body. Meanwhile, a hippo was walking and upon seeing the lionesses it stopped as if it was challenging them to attack. The big cats quickly got up and moved away. However, the hippo continued to walk towards the group and attempted to cross the group of wild cats, but suddenly it turned around and tried to charge. The lionesses were also positioned in their hunting mode and did not waste a second to drive it away. They kept trying to charge the huge mammal all the while escaping its powerful bite.

Finally, the wild cats of the jungle surrounded it, and one lioness jumped and tried to dig her paw and teeth into the back of the Hippo. It quickly turned around and ran for the water, finally getting the cat off its back. The tourist too erupted in laughter after it saw the huge animal run off defeated, while the big cats looked unbothered.

This video has the attention of the internet and has received more than 8.8 lakh views on YouTube. A user commented, “He knows kitty cats won’t go in the water haha." Another wrote, “It sure has seen some fights with those scars on its back. Amazing exchange of different behaviour interactions between these two species." One more added, “When they got face to face with the Hippo. He showed those teeth, that stopped them in their tracks."
