Jasveen Sangha, who has been referred to as the ‘Ketamine Queen,’ is facing some serious criminal charges related to the death of actor Matthew Perry. Perry, best known for his role in the TV show Friends, died on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. His death was ruled to be caused by the acute effects of ketamine which is a powerful anesthetic, often used during surgical procedures. While the initial reports called the situation an ‘accidental overdose,’ the new ongoing drug investigations have revealed some disturbing information, especially related to alleged drug trafficker Jasveen Sangha. As of now, five people have been charged in connection with Perry’s death, including Sangha, his longtime personal assistant and two doctors.
Sangha, 41, is accused of selling Perry the ketamine that led to his fatal overdose. Prosecutors allege that she sold him 50 vials of the drug over a span of two weeks and made a fortune from these sales, reports ABC News.
After Perry’s death, Sangha reportedly took steps to distance herself from the situation. She texted Erik Fleming, a fellow drug dealer, asking him to delete all their messages, as shown in a screenshot obtained by TMZ. Sangha has pleaded “not guilty” to the charges and maintains that she was not involved in Perry’s death.

Sangha’s involvement with ketamine has a troubling history. In August 2019, reportedly she sold ketamine to Cody McLaury, who had died from an overdose of the drug. After learning of McLaury’s death, Sangha is said to have searched online to see if ketamine could be listed as a cause of death, informs ABC News.
The case is further complicated by the involvement of Perry’s assistant, Kenneth Iwamassa, who, along with two doctors, is accused of helping to procure the ketamine for Perry. Court documents reveal that one of the doctors, Dr Salvador Plasencia, was involved in discussions about how much to charge Perry for the drugs, despite knowing about his history of substance abuse.
“They knew what they were doing was risking great danger to Mr. Perry. But they did it anyway,” U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada said while announcing the charges for all five arrested in connection with the Friends actor’s death.
The legal proceedings are ongoing and Sangha, along with the other individuals involved, will face court to answer for their alleged roles in Perry’s tragic death. As per ABC News, Sangha could face life in prison if she gets convicted as charged.
