To facilitate late-night travel for those enjoying Navratri festivities, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) has announced introduce 12 additional Metro trips daily from October 7 to October 11. The decision, initiated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Chairman of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), aims to accommodate the increased travel demand during the festive season.
These extra services will provide metro trains every 15 minutes, easing the pressure on the Metro system and ensuring that passengers conveniently travel during late-night hours.
Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA, emphasised that enhancing public transport during this period is crucial to ensure safe and efficient travel for commuters attending the celebrations.
Mukherjee said, “Navratri is a time of joy and celebration for millions, and we are committed to ensuring that the metro system supports our citizens during this period. Extending the metro service hours will provide commuters with a comfortable and affordable option for travel, allowing them to participate fully in the festivities without worrying about transportation.”
Rubal Aggarwal, Managing Director of MMMOCL, said, “The additional services during Navratri reflect our commitment to meeting the needs of Mumbai’s residents. We are focused on ensuring that all our passengers have a smooth and convenient travel experience, particularly during the festival season.”
