A government school in Basirhat surprises with a cutting-edge QR code attendance system. Know how it is proving to be a gamechanger
If students arrive late at school and when they are leaving the school premises for their respective homes, the attendance system installed at this government school at West Bengal’s Basirhat will now send real time updates to their parents in their phones. In an innovative step towards enhancing student safety, Malatipur High School in Basirhat has introduced QR code based digital attendance system.
This modern technology utilizes QR codes for automated attendance. The system not only tracks the attendance of students but also of teachers, thereby providing a comprehensive solution for monitoring school attendance.
By scanning the QR code upon both arrival and departure, parents can be now be assured of their children’s safe and timely return home.
One might expect such an attendance system at an elite private school in Kolkata or any other city. But one might be surprised to know that this innovative approach to attendance monitoring has been introduced at a government school in Basirhat. In fact, the modern infrastructure and decor of this school can compete with that of renowned institutions in the city.
The school has approximately 3,000 students and has appointed 60 teachers and educational staff. Under the leadership of Headmaster Shahnawaz Alam, co-teachers and the school- management committee, the school has been transformed with modern infrastructure.
Students record their attendance using a smart card. Their digital identity card is scanned by placing it in front of the machine during entry into the classroom and at the end of the school day. When students are on their way home, the same machine sends a message to their guardian’s mobile phones. The system also issues an alert if a student or teacher arrives late. This initiative has been well-received by students, teachers, and parents alike.
