The Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI in Lucknow initiated legal action against 11 railway employees implicated in the paper leak.
Amid ongoing efforts by the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government to combat corruption, a new scandal has emerged involving a paper leak in a railway departmental promotion exam. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in connection with the case, which was exposed following a complaint from the Railway Board’s Vigilance Department. The alleged leak pertains to the General Department Competitive Exam conducted on August 6, 2021. The Railway Recruitment Board of Prayagraj is accused of leaking the papers for the GDCE exam, and providing them to 50 to 60 candidates. The leaked papers were reportedly sold for Rs 4 lakh.

The CBI conducted raids at 11 locations across Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, including Prayagraj, Noida, Aligarh, Mathura, Chitrakoot, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Karauli, Alwar, and Sawai Madhopur.
During these raids, important documents were seized, revealing that answers to exam questions were distributed in a room near the Ghaziabad railway station a day before the exam. It is also alleged that Rs 4 lakh were collected from candidates in exchange for the leaked answers.
The CBI has also named Aptech Ltd, the agency responsible for administering the exam, in the ongoing paper leak investigation.
Among those charged in the FIR are track maintainers Bhup Singh, Vegraj, Mahavir Singh, and Pritam Singh from Bharatpur, Rajasthan; Jitendra Kumar Meena from Alwar; Pramod Kumar Meena from Sawai Madhopur; Hansraj Meena from Tonka; Dharm Dev from Aligarh; Prashant Kumar Meena from Karauli; and Man Singh, Office Superintendent at the Chief Engineer’s Office of North Western Railway in Jaipur. Additionally, parcel porter Mohit Bhati from Noida is also named in the case.
