Women across multiple districts in Bengal will take out a rally at midnight on Wednesday to protest against the junior doctor’s rape and murder at RG Kar MCH in Kolkata. The slogan of the protest is “Swadhinotar Modhyoraatey, Nari Swadhinotar Jonyo (At the midnight hour of Independence, for women’s liberation)”.

Protests and strikes continued on Wednesday with the AIIMS community reaffirming their demand for the implementation of the Central Protection ACT.

AIIMS resident doctors including foreign national and sponsored candidates, fellows and undergraduates would continue their strike, including the suspension of academic activities, elective OPDs, ward, and OT services. However, emergency services, ICUs, emergency procedures and emergency OT will remain operational, RDA AIIMS, New Delhi said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a fresh FIR in the case and a team of the probe agency along with forensic scientists and medical experts arrived in Kolkata for investigation following Calcutta High Court’s order on Tuesday. The CBI team also took custody of the accused, Sanjay Roy.

According to officials, the experts are likely to go through the autopsy report and analyse its videography, if any, besides visiting the crime scene where the body was found.
