Discover Magic Planet, India’s Unique Theme Park Dedicated To The Art Of Illusion

Magic Planet is a great place to visit for those planning a day trip to Thiruvananthapuram.

We all have heard of different types of parks. But do you know there is a park that is claimed to be India’s first magic theme park called Magic Planet? This unique park is situated within the Kinfra Film and Video Park in Kazhakuttom, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Its official inauguration took place on October 31, 2014, with the then Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr. Oommen Chandy, presiding over the event.

The park recreates India’s rich, traditional street magic heritage while mixing magic with the wonders of science. Today let’s learn more about India’s first magic theme park.

According to reports, Gopinath Muthukad is the founder of Magic Planet. He has used “magic” to transmit significant concepts and encourage inventive thinking among the people. Operating under the distinguishing tagline ‘Magic with a Mission,’ he has not only excelled as a magician but also as a successful illusionist, mentor, escapologist and stunt performer.

However, the park has a multitude of fascinating activities that await visitors here. Among these various segments, the ‘Street Magic Venue’, which displays spellbinding performances and tricks such as ‘The Indian Mango Mystery’ and the ‘Indian Basket Trick’ on the streets, attracts visitors in hordes. Be it the mesmerising Circus Castle blended with acrobatic sensations, the ‘Magic Gallery’ at the History Museum with its rare memorabilia tracing the tale of magic and magicians from the Middle Ages to the 1950s, or the ‘Fantasia Theatre’ where mind-blowing illusions, music and theatre effects are displayed, the Magic Planet will enthral one beyond words.

Apart from this, the park also has a Different Art Center, which is dedicated to educating and empowering children with diverse disabilities, extending beyond intellectual challenges.

The centre expands its teaching scope beyond magic to include music, dance, drama, filmmaking, painting and expertise with various musical instruments.

Magic Planet allows entry from 10 am to 5 pm. It is a good place to visit for those planning a one-day trip.
