‘The Man Who Made India Proud’: Condolences Pour In for Ratan Tata

The businessman and philanthropist was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai

Industrialist and former Tata Group Chairman Ratan Emeritus Ratan Tata passed away at the age of 86 due to age-related ailments on Wednesday.

The businessman and philanthropist was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai since Monday due to a sudden drop in blood pressure and was in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Soon after reports of his passing emerged, people from all walks of life came to express their condolences.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Tata as an extraordinary human being and expressed gratitude for his unwavering commitment to the people of the country.

“Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses. At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to several people thanks to his humility, kindness and an unwavering commitment to making our society better,” PM Modi wrote in his X post.

Anand Mahindra, Chairperson of Mahindra and Mahindra, wrote: “I am unable to accept the absence of Ratan Tata. India’s economy stands on the cusp of a historic leap forward. And Ratan’s life and work have had much to do with our being in this position.”
