BJP Senior Leaders Get Crucial Organisational Posts After Being Denied Tickets For J&K Polls

Sat Sharma, who was denied a ticket in the upcoming assembly polls has been appointed as the working president of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the party.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed its senior leaders to crucial organisatioal posts after they were denied tickets in the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024. Party leaders like Sat Sharma, Kavinder Gupta and Nirmal Singh have been given important posts ahead of the polls.

Sat Sharma, who was denied a ticket in the upcoming assembly polls has been appointed as the working president of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the party. He will gradually take over the baton from Ravinder Raina, who was the BJP Jammu and Kashmir president before him and is now a candidate for the upcoming elections. Sharma is an ex-MLA, who also held the post of the J&K party president in the past.

The saffron party has appointed its former deputy chief minister, Nirmal Singh, as the head of the campaign committee for the ensuing election. Earlier, Nirmal Singh was also made to head the manifesto committee in the Union Territory.

The BJP has also appointed Kavinder Gupta, another former deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, to lead the Election management committee.

A couple of weeks ago, when the BJP released its first list for J&K polls, it was later withdrawn due to technical reasons and sent out again. This was followed by large scale protest at the party office in Jammu, especially with several leaders being upset about dropping off big names, like Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta.

Later, party seniors spoke to these leaders and ensured that they were able to calm the tempers down. BJP election in charge in J&K, Ram Madhav, who was entrusted with the responsibility, held individual meetings with each of these senior leaders.

Nirmal Singh was denied a ticket from Bilawar and the assembly seat was given to Satish Sharma to contest. Kavinder Gupta was replaced by Vikram Randhawa in the Bahu seat for the upcoming elections. Similarly, senior leader Sat Sharma, was denied a ticket from Jammu West and Aravind Gupta has been fielded in his place instead.

Jammu and Kashmir is set for assembly elections after nearly a decade. The polling will take place in three phases on September 18, 25 and October 1 while the counting of the votes will take place on October 8.
