Bihar Education Department Prohibits Denim And Social Media Use Among Teachers, Know Why

The decision was made in response to the widespread sharing of DJ and dance videos online.

The Bihar government has implemented a new dress code prohibiting denim and t-shirts during work hours for school teachers. According to a letter from the education department, Bihar teachers and other staff members violating the dress code will be subject to discipline.

The warning emphasizes the neglect of prior directives aimed at maintaining decency within educational institutions. According to the notice, teachers at government schools are also banned from creating social media reels. The decision was made in response to the widespread sharing of DJ and dance videos online. The department asserts that such actions not only damage the school’s reputation but also disrupt the academic environment.

As per the Local 18 report, according to Shivnandan Singh, a resident of the Jamui area, the fact that teachers attend classes dressed in jeans and T-shirts raises concerns about the education system regularly. In addition, criticism of the Bihar education system was ongoing because of the conduct of its instructors. However, the government’s choice will strengthen the educational framework. He stated that although the government is late in making this choice, it is the right one. The government ought to have made it long ago. The choice made by the education department will have an impact on children’s futures in addition to being felt in classrooms due to the atmosphere in which learning is taught there. He also claimed that teachers had developed the bad habit of using social media and creating reels for their classes.

Teachers have been urged to attend in formal attire, which is a great decision, according to Siyaram Mandal. It is impossible to express how much we appreciate the education department’s decision. In addition, he suggested, that the education department ought to institute school uniforms. It is expected of teachers to wear uniforms, much like youngsters, so that people are aware that a teacher is going even when they are walking down the street. It will restore some of the teachers’ dignity and boost their esteem as well. He claimed that social media use by teachers in the past hurt students. In the past, kids learnt by observing their teachers. The fact that this is now prohibited is a positive move.

On exceptional occasions, as per the schedule, the department has authorised the organisation of programs in a disciplined manner. In the meantime, the Bihar government has unveiled a new policy that prioritises teachers with severe illnesses and impairments for posting and transfer. According to Education Minister, Sunil Kumar, transfer applications would only be accepted online.
