‘Beware Of Negative People Who Want To Lead India To Anarchy, Destruction’: PM Modi In I-Day Address

In his address to the nation from the ramparts of historic Red Fort in New Delhi, the Prime Minister said that some people can't see India's progress. They are full of negativity.

In a veiled jibe at opposition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday warned citizens from those who are full of negativity and cannot see India’s progress.

While addressing from the ramparts of Red Fort for the 11th consecutive term on the occasion of Independence Day, the Prime Minister said that some people can’t see India’s progress. They are full of negativity. The country needs to safeguard itself from such people who want to lead India to anarchy and destruction.

“We are moving forward with resolution but there are some people who cannot see progress or think of India’s good unless it benefits them…The country needs to protect itself from this handful of pessimistic people…There are uncountable challenges both external and internal – these will only increase. I want to say to such forces that India’s development will not pose a threat to anyone….The world should not worry seeing India’s development…”

While attacking the past Congress governments, PM Modi said that after independence, people had to go through a kind of mai-baap culture – keep asking the government, keep extending hands before the government. But the BJP government changed the model of governance and the government itself approaches the beneficiary.

In a veiled attack against the Opposition over corruption, PM Modi said, “Our country has overcome an entire regime of corruption. There have been personalised attacks on me, but my prestige is not more important than the cause of this nation.”

He added, “There are some in this country, who are still encouraging corruption and singing, praises of corruption and the corrupt. Zero tolerance towards corruption is the only way to eradicate corruption.”

This year’s celebration marks the 11th time PM Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort on Independence Day, making him the third Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi to achieve this milestone. The theme for this year’s Independence Day is ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047,’ aiming to drive the Government’s efforts to transform India into a developed nation by 2047.
