Arka said that he got enrolled in the Brahmanbaria Medical College, Bangladesh on August 9, 2023.
Arka Samaddar, a medical student from the Shantipur, Nadia district, West Bengal is currently facing problems in completing his education. According to Local 18 Bengal, he started his education in Ukraine, a country located in eastern Europe. He had to leave the country only after 4 months due to the fight between Russia and Ukraine. He then started his education at Brahmanbaria Medical College, Bangladesh; but then had to leave this country as well due to a protest. This protest called for reforms in the quota allocation for government jobs in Bangladesh. Arka said that he enrolled in the Brahmanbaria Medical College on August 9, 2023. In addition to Bangladeshi students, he said that about 70 Indian students study there.
Arka added that female students live inside the college campus, so the college authorities took special measures in case the situation turns unfavourable. As a result, the students did not have to face much difficulty. According to him, a few college students also participated in the movement, but none of them were residents. He said that there were one or two students from foreign countries, but they did not join the movement. Arka said that they were a bit worried due to curfew and network issues.
Arka added that the Bangladesh government and the Indian embassy had contacted them and provided a lot of cooperation. Ark said that his home district was close to Bangladesh and that’s why he was able to keep in touch with home regularly due to access to some Indian networks. They finally returned home two days ago with the help of the Indian Embassy and a police escort sent by the Government of Bangladesh. Arka said that he is in regular contact with the college authorities, and he will return to Bangladesh when the situation becomes normal. He has completed his education from the PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Ranaghat and passed the NET (National Eligibility Test) in 2021. His father Kamal Samaddar works in Indian Postal, while the younger brother is in class nine.
