Anant Ambani Donates 20-Kg Gold Crown To Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja Ahead Of Ganesh Chaturthi

Businessman Anant Ambani has been associated with the Lalbaugcha Raja for over 15 years and has been attending all events

The eagerly awaited first look of Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja was unveiled earlier this evening ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi. The sight of bappa, dressed in maroon attire and adorned with pieces of jewellery left devotees awestruck. One of the highlights of this year’s Lalbaugcha Raja was the 20-kg gold crown worth Rs 15 crore reportedly donated by business Anant Ambani and Reliance Foundation.

Anant Ambani has been associated with the Lalbaugcha Raja committee through various initiatives for the past 15 years. He has also been seen attending various events of Lalbaugcha Raja during the Ganeshotsav. Additionally, he attends the immersion of the idol at Girgaon Chowpatty Beach every year. Through the Reliance Foundation, the Ambani family has also provided support to various health-related initiatives to the Lalbaugcha Raja committee.

During the Covid pandemic, the Lalbaugcha Raja committee faced a shortage of funds for social work. Anant Ambani took the initiative and provided significant help to the committee. Anant Ambani and the Reliance Foundation donated 24 dialysis machines for the committee’s patient aid fund. Anant Ambani has also been appointed an executive advisor to the Lalbaugcha Raja committee.

Lalbaugcha Raja or ‘King of Lalbaug’ is the most visited Ganesh mandal in India’s financial capital. From a commoner to a celebrity, lakhs of Mumbaikars stand in Lalbaug’s long queues every year to get a glimpse of the iconic idol.

The Ganapati festival, beginning September 7, is a major celebration in Maharashtra. Ganeshotsav spans ten days of joyous celebrations, elaborate rituals, and other festivities and concludes with the grand visarjan, where Ganesha idols are immersed in water bodies amidst chants and music.
