Alok Raj will continue to serve as the Director General of the Bihar Police till further directives.
The Bihar Government Department on Friday, August 30, appointed Indian Police Service (IPS), Alok Raj as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar. As per reports, Alok Raj will be serving as the Director General of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau in the Bihar Police. Alok Raj will continue to serve as the Director General of the Bihar Police till further directives, per the notification.
Alok Raj will continue to hold the DGP position until the Assembly elections. He will be the DGP of Bihar through the elections since he holds the post till December 31, 2025. Since Alok Raj is the highest senior IPS officer in the state, his name has already been considered for the DGP position.
Alok Raj: His Journey
Alok Raj, the senior IPS from Bihar, was born on December 15, 1965. He was from the 1989 IPS officer batch. He is the state’s highest senior IPS official. Neura, in the Saraian block of the Muzaffarpur district, is his ancestral house. While, currently his family is staying in Kankarbagh, Patna. Alok Raj’s father-in-law served as the Bihar Police’s DGP. D.N. Sahay, Lalu Yadav’s father-in-law, was the DGP during his administration.
Alok Raj: Passion For Music
Alok Raj’s love of music is well known. His songs recently became viral on social media. He once sang a song online that was quite well-known and dedicated to Lord Shiva. Alok Raj is rumoured to have produced many albums. The song “Yeh Bhola Sabse Bada Hai” was very much liked by viewers. Subsequently, he said in an interview that he loved movie tunes in high school and college, but that all of that became past on August 20, 1989, when he became an IPS. He explained that the duties and tasks assigned to police officers are difficult.
In an interview, he revealed that he had forgotten his passion for over twenty-two years because he became so dedicated towards his work. However, in 2011, he began studying Hindustani classical music. His mentor Ashok Kumar helped him begin his musical practice. He spent six years as an artist. Following that, he released his debut album Sai Rachna in 2017. He then performed ghazals from Dushyant Kumar’s album. Kabir Bhajans by him was also put on an album.
In a previous interview, Alok Raj stated that dealing with various issues all day in the police force might be depressing. In fact, according to him, all police officers have experienced stress. They frequently get agitated. But for him only medium that may help in more creativity and lessen negativity in such a scenario is art.
