UP’s Baghpat DM Served ‘Bilseri’ Instead of Bisleri During Event, Bulldozer Action Ordered | Video

The authorities took prompt action and seized around 2,663 bottles which were falsely labelled to mimic the original Bisleri packaging, with green-coloured names like ‘Bilseri,’ ‘Bisleri,’ and ‘Bislari’.

In a dramatic turn of events, a bulldozer operation took place allegedly over thousands of confiscated fake brand water bottles in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat after the region’s District Magistrate (DM) was served a 500 ml bottle labelled ‘Bilseri’ (fake water bottle of Bisleri) during a visit at a police post in the district.

A video of the incident went viral among the netizens.

As per the video, Baghpat DM Jitendra Pratap Singh, accompanied by Superintendent of Police (SP) Arpit Vijayvargiya, got surprised by the bottle which was kept in front of him. The DM then took the bottle in his hand, closely inspected it and found that it lacked the requisite food licence number.

The DM immediately instructed the Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety to investigate the matter. He was informed that the water bottles were purchased from a shop in Gauripur, according to News18 Hindi.

Further investigation revealed that Bhim Singh of Gauripur was running an illegal godown from his home, distributing fake water bottles to numerous shops across the district.

The authorities took prompt action and seized around 2,663 bottles which were falsely labelled to mimic the original Bisleri packaging, with green-coloured names like ‘Bilseri,’ ‘Bisleri,’ and ‘Bislari’, in a bid to deliberately mislead the consumers.

The samples of these bottles were sent for testing and the seized products were destroyed on-site using a bulldozer.

Additionally, the godown was shut down for operating without a valid licence, and legal action was initiated against the owner.

The DM has also called for public cooperation, encouraging locals to report any instances of counterfeit food products.
